Aran Mooney and Julia Samson are at the 3rd International Conference on the Effects of Noise on Aquatic Life. The meeting is taking place in Budapest, Hungary. At this meeting we are learning about the most current research on the hearing, behavior and various effects of noise on a variety of marine life, including marine mammals, fishes and squid. Aran is presenting on our recent hearing measurements in wild belugas. Julia will be talking about her M.S. work on behavioral responses to sound in cuttlefish (a relative of the squid).
The conference is being held at a pretty amazing venue, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest, also known affectionately by it’s historic name, the Grand Hotel Royal (see the picture of presentation room below). As a result of this conference we are invited to write chapters for a book that will come out next year.
